Not from Jakarta, but that's where I used to buy my kratom from. The guy I bought it from had nothing but good things to say about the Indonesians
I heard that bud can be pretty hit or miss in that whole region, depending on the local laws. As far as I know Indonesia is very strict about their tolerance (or rather intolerance) towards weed.
It could always be worse though, I talked to one person who lives in the Caribbean and he has to pay $100 per gram of good quality bud (exported from the U.S.). Even the swag is expensive there, costing around $25 to $50 per gram (I can't remember what he said, but it was crazy).
Everyone here smokes cigarettes instead

Oh one of my closest friends actually got relocated to Jakarta through his work a few months ago.
Him and I have been smoking a lot through the years so after a few weeks he tried to score a little something himself down there, he googled where he should head and got a taxi. When he stated where he wanted to go, the taxi driver replied that he was obligated to notify the police if he dropped of a foreigner in that location. Furthermore the taxi driver also happened to be a smoker, so he warned my buddy that he should never smoke in Jakarta unless he knew a grower in person.

if you get caught with weed there, they'll either imprison you or kill you.

Yeah, you've gotta know someone that can be trusted for sure, never tell/ask strangers where to get it, but once you find a trustable friend, it's all good.
When I was there I didnt even try to buy any. One cool thing is that black cloves djarum cost $1.

could not have said it better. it is insane how much trouble u can get in for bud over there. wouldnt even risk stepping foot in that country
In situations like these, street smarts come in contact to save yourself from getting in major trouble from the law; if I were to visit countries that have a strict penalty for Cannabis, I would just go for traveling purposes and score bud somewhere else where it isn't as tense and uptight.
